Gary K. describes what many fundamental, grassroots members believe about Service in Alcoholics Anonymous as well as other 12 Step fellowships – carrying the message to those who still suffer from alcoholism and addiction is no longer the primary Service. The steps, tradition and concepts of service should culminate into one primary purpose – facilitation of carrying the message. The message is the way of life described in the first 164 pages of the Big Book called Alcoholics Anonymous.
